CASALE IN VIGNA STORY
AN ANCIENT BENEDICTINE ABBEY WITH A MAGIC PANORAMA
Our Casale is the highest settlement on the hill (mt. 280), in the hamlet of Verici, where there are some remains of the ancient Benedictine abbey of Velazo (hence the name “Verici”), evidence of the community of Benedictine monks who, in the eleventh century, chose to live in this area.
As we know, the monks always prefer the most magical places!
The panorama for the visitors, in fact, is a unique beauty. It is possible to admire ancient and new vineyards which embellish the typical Ligurian hills and, in the clearest winter days, the enchantment makes it possible to see on the horizon the reliefs of Maritime Alps with their snowy peaks suspended over the sea.
The wine production started by the monks has been restored and today Verici is known for a niche production of delicate white wines: Bianchetta Genovese, Vermentino and Pigato.
The suggestion is implicit: to enjoy the tranquility of the place, with the enchantment of the sea, maybe with a glass of local wine.

How far is the Casale from the beach?
In about 10/15 minutes by car you can reach the beaches of Sestri Levante or Riva Trigoso.
Is a car needed?
Yes, being on the top of the hill it is necessary to use the car at least until the end of the road climb, in the center of Casarza Ligure. From here, if you wish, you can reach Sestri along the river by bike, on foot or by bus.
Is there on-site parking?
Yes, we have a parking area reserved for our guests with herringbone parking lot. For those who prefer, you can also park along the road after the Casale, or in the last curve before arriving.
Is that a country road to reach you?
The Casale is at the top of the hill and therefore, from Casarza Ligure, it is necessary to follow the typical Ligurian road (all asphalted), uphill with bends, to the highest and most panoramic point of the hill. On the other hand, for such a spectacular view, it is necessary to climb quickly to the top (about 8 minutes by road from the crossroads).
What are the main distances?
SESTRI LEVANTE/RIVA TRIGOSO: 10/15 minutes by car.
5TERRE: 25/30 minutes by train from Sestri.
CAMOGLI/RECCO: 35 minutes by car or 30 minutes by train (recommended choice).
SANTA MARGHERITA LIGURE/PORTOFINO: 45 minutes by car or train/ferry.
GENOA: 45 minutes by highway or h.1 by train.
AIRPORTS:Genoa 60 km (50 min), Pisa 125 km (1.30 h)
How to reach the 5 lands?
By train! Both for the Cinque Terre and for other destinations such as Camogli, especially in the summer season, it is recommended to use the train from Sestri Levante, or the ferry for a more adventurous trip.
